Answers to common questions about Biscuit: what it is, getting started, what you can build, making money, billing, your app and data, and getting help.
Common questions about Biscuit. The docs cover features in depth.
Biscuit is an all-in-one platform that builds, tests, ships, and runs your website or app. You describe what you want, and Biscuit builds it with payments, emails, database, hosting, security, and operations included.Biscuit is:
Scalable: your app runs on infrastructure designed to scale to millions of users.
Secure by default: every table and row starts with clear rules for who can see or change it, shown in plain language so you don’t need to read code.
Fast & maintainable: every layer, from the app to the infrastructure, was designed for this platform. That lets Biscuit trace how your app works, improve it, and fix issues without sending you in circles.
You can go from idea to something people can use and pay for without wiring together separate tools or touching code.
Who is Biscuit for?
People who have an idea for a website or app and want to turn it into something real. Biscuit helps you build and launch it, with everything you need to start earning built in. You don’t need to be a developer.
Do I need any technical experience to use Biscuit?
No. You describe what you want in plain English, and Biscuit builds, tests, and ships the product for you. To make changes, keep chatting with Biscuit. You don’t need to touch code.
What do I need to get started?
An idea and a Google account to sign in. You don’t need a credit card or any setup. You land on the dashboard and click New Project to begin.
How long does it take to launch?
You can usually get a first version live in 30 minutes to a couple of hours, depending on the idea. Payments are built in, so you can start collecting payments as soon as you’re ready to publish. Building a real business still takes iteration: keep improving the product, talking to customers, and learning what people will pay for.
The sky’s the limit. Biscuit can build complete websites and apps people can use and pay for. Think community apps, web games, video-call products, SaaS tools, marketplaces, internal dashboards, booking platforms, learning products, or a business idea that does not fit an existing category. If you can describe it, you can start building it on Biscuit.
What tech stack does Biscuit use?
Biscuit runs on a mix of Cloudflare, Google Cloud, and self-hosted VMs. Payments are built into the platform and use Stripe under the hood. AI features use models from Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI. You don’t need to manage any of this yourself.
Will my website or app scale?
Yes. Biscuit is built as an integrated platform from the ground up, which means your website or app is built on infrastructure designed to scale with it. Because Biscuit understands how every part of your project works, we can run the right pieces in the right place and keep them reliable as usage grows. We’ve scaled products to millions of users before: Ives van Hoorne as co-founder of CodeSandbox, and Andreas Blixt as VP of Engineering at Framer. We built Biscuit to bring that kind of infrastructure to anyone with an idea for a website, app, or business.
Can I edit the code Biscuit generates?
No, not directly. Biscuit is built as a fully integrated platform from the ground up, so the code is tied to Biscuit’s infrastructure. You make changes by chatting with Biscuit, not by editing the code directly. If you ever want to move off the platform, email us and we’ll help you.
Payments are built in. When customers pay, money goes to your Biscuit wallet automatically. No setup is needed on your end.
How do I get paid?
Open your Wallet and withdraw your earnings to your bank account. Biscuit shows the fee and final payout amount before you confirm.
Why does Biscuit take 15%?
Biscuit builds and runs the product infrastructure for you: payments, hosting, emails, database, and the AI team that helps build, test, and ship your app. We only take 15% when money leaves the platform (when you withdraw), so we earn when you do.
Can I reinvest my earnings in my app?
Yes. You can use your Biscuit earnings to keep building, improving, and hosting your app. The 15% fee only applies when you withdraw money, so earnings you reinvest on Biscuit are not charged.
How much can I build for free?
During early access, creators get $200 in Biscuit credits every day to build, improve, and host their apps. You start with credits in your Wallet, and your daily allowance refills every day, so you can keep working without adding a credit card.
Why does Biscuit give creators credits?
Think of Biscuit as the first investor in your new business. We give creators credits because we want you to get to something live, learn what customers want, and start making money. The daily allowance is permanent, but the early-access amount may change.
Does Biscuit match my earnings?
Yes. When your app earns revenue, Biscuit matches it dollar for dollar with credits you can use to keep building. If your app makes $50, you also get $50 in Biscuit credits. They show as Bonus in your Wallet.
Do I have to handle sales tax or VAT on my customers' purchases?
No. As the merchant of record, Biscuit collects and remits VAT, sales tax, and other indirect taxes on customer purchases where required by law. You’re still responsible for your own income tax on your earnings.
Refunds are handled case by case. If a customer asks for a refund, email support@biscuit.so and we’ll review the request. Refunds are typically considered for products that don’t work as described, mistaken charges, or unauthorized purchases. EU consumers have a 14-day right of withdrawal under Directive 2011/83/EU.
You own what you build on Biscuit: your application, content, and customer relationships. Biscuit keeps the license needed to host and run your app on the platform.
How does Biscuit protect my app's data?
We designed Biscuit with security in mind from the start. For all data in your app, Biscuit explicitly defines who can see it, who can change it, and under which conditions. Those rules are visible in the product, so you can understand and adjust access without reading code. We also run extra checks to help prevent accidental data leaks. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and Stripe handles payment data.
How does Biscuit track visitors to my published app?
Apps built on Biscuit are cookieless. We count unique visitors using a daily-rotating IP and user-agent hash that can’t track anyone across days or sites. We honor Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control browser signals; when either is sent, we skip the visitor count entirely.
What happens to my data if I delete my account?
Personal data is deleted or anonymized within 30 days, and project data may be kept in backups for a limited period after that. Pending earnings payouts are reviewed and processed within 90 days, subject to identity verification and any pending disputes.
What happens to my earnings if Biscuit shuts down?
If Biscuit ever shuts down, per our Terms we’ll make commercially reasonable efforts to process final payouts of confirmed earnings balances, subject to applicable law.
