# Spaces: Organize apps by team

> Give each team its own space for its apps, and choose who can find, join, and edit them.

Your workspace holds everything your company builds in Biscuit, and everyone on your team joins the same one. Spaces let you organize it by team, so Sales, Marketing, HR or any other group gets its own place for its apps, with its own members and access. Everyone also has a personal space for their own work, which is where your first app is built.

## Creating a space

1. In the side panel, click **+** next to **Spaces**.
2. Enter a name for the space, for example *Marketing team*.
3. Choose who can access it (see below).
4. Optionally, invite people to the space now or add them later.
5. Click **Create space**.

You become the owner of any space you create.

## Choosing who can access a space

Every space has one of four access settings:

* **Everyone:** everyone in the workspace is a member automatically.
* **Open:** anyone in the workspace can find and join it.
* **Closed:** anyone can find it, but an invitation is needed to join.
* **Private:** only people with access can find it.

> [!TIP]
>
> Use **Private** for spaces only one team should know about, such as HR or Accounting tools.

You can change a space's access at any time in space settings.

## Adding members to a space

To give someone access to a space, they need to be a member of your workspace first. See **Members** to invite them.

1. Open the space and click **Members and sharing**.
2. Choose a person from your workspace members.
3. Pick what they can do in the space.
4. Click **Add**.

| Permission | What they can do |
| - | - |
| **Can use** | Open and use the apps in the space |
| **Can edit** | Use the apps, make changes to them, and publish new versions |
| **Owner** | Everything above, plus manage the space's members and settings |

Once added, the space appears in their side panel.
